Our Programs & Services
Transitional Day Program
Our program is designed to help young adults develop social, vocational, communication, and independent living skills through integrated community activities and on-the-job training.
ABLE runs year-round on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing transportation in Campbell, Crook, and Johnson Counties, with some services available statewide.
Residential Program
Our ABLE’s Forever Home offers adults with UNIQUE NEEDS a secure and supportive home, enabling them to live as independently as possible under suitable supervision. Additionally, it encourages personal development and a sense of community by highlighting residents’ valuable contributions.
Services under the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver
ABLE is registered with the Wyoming Department of Health to provide provider and case management services under the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver. The Home and Community-Based Services Waiver aims to help individuals with UNIQUE ABILITIES access and secure essential services that promote their growth and support across all areas of their lives.
Our support extends to families by guiding them through eligibility and waitlisting processes and helping secure funding for essential services, such as our day and residential programs. ABLE also offers Adult Day Services, Child Habilitation Services, Community Living Services, Community Support Services, Companion Services, Individual Habilitation Services, Personal Care Services, Respite Services, Supported Employment, and Transportation Services through the HCBS Waiver.
Children’s Mental Health Waiver
As an agency for the Children’s Mental Health Waiver, we work with children up to age 21 who face mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or behavioral disorders. This program unites families, identifies needs, and coordinates resources to help children succeed at home and in their communities. Over the course of 12 to 18 months, our goal is to keep families together and prevent children from entering hospitals or the juvenile justice system. We help create stability, hope, and healing for every child we get the opportunity to serve.
Vocational and Job Training
ABLE partners with local businesses such as Smith’s and Pizza Ranch to provide hands-on job training and real workplace experience. Participants learn valuable employment skills while working alongside their job coaches. As they gain confidence and competence, we gradually step back, allowing individuals to take ownership of their roles. Many go on to be hired by these businesses, while others explore different work opportunities that better suit their interests. Because we provide transportation and coaching, this program benefits both participants and employers, creating win-win partnerships across the community.
Driver’s Education Program
Our Driver’s Education Program empowers individuals to gain independence and confidence through safe driving. Participants begin by preparing for the written permit test. When passed, they progress through a driving simulator, and then receive hands-on behind-the-wheel training. Once ready, they complete their official driving test. This program, which we make available statewide, gives participants the opportunity to achieve one of life’s major milestones, driving, with guidance, patience, and encouragement through every step of the way.
Social Interaction
At ABLE, we believe relationships are an important piece to a fulfilling life. Our social interaction program helps participants build healthy friendships, practice communication skills, deal with conflict resolution, and even navigate dating. Through “reverse inclusion,” we also invite community members to join our activities, bridging the gap between individuals with and without disabilities. The result is a supportive, connected community where everyone learns from one another and no one feels alone.
Self-Advocacy
Self-understanding is an important part of growth. Our self-advocacy program teaches participants to take charge of their lives by creating their own schedules, making appointments, and managing responsibilities. When challenges arise, they learn conflict resolution and how to express their needs respectfully and effectively. By understanding their disabilities and celebrating their strengths, participants gain the confidence to advocate for themselves and others.
Independent Living Skills Services
Our independent living skills program helps participants learn essential areas, including personal care and wellness, sexual education, household management, cooking and nutrition, money management, personal relationships, communication, and time management, among others.
Transportation
Reliable transportation is essential to independence. Along with that, caregivers can’t always provide transportation. We fill this vital gap by providing daily pick-up and drop-off services across Moorcroft, Buffalo, and surrounding areas, meeting a need that often goes unmet in local communities.
